Hi everyone,

Tough day fishing today. I met jigboy and jerry out on the lake after noon. On the way, I had to shovel the ATV out of two different snow banks. It is just barely passable with the deep snow depths. I had to back up, then go forward several times to finally get to my destination. Between the three of us, we caught almost three dozen Perch with only about 5 keepers, and no Walleyes. Very slow. The weather was perfect though. High 20's, little wind, low baramoter, and cloudy the whole time.

I think the reason we didn't get any Walleyes is because the Musky's were in the same cover area. We had only three flags, and they were all from musky's. The line was bit off, and there are no northerns in this lake. We had minnows on the boards, and jigged with mostly wax worms. Hopefully will be better tommorow.

Finally got back onto the ice yesterday and did fairly well (for me). Caught my limit of northerns and about 15 keeper gills between my bro and I. My brother also missed about 3 or 4 northerns, and i make sure to point that out to him whenever possible. Seems like the perch moved out and the gills in. I tried to put my northern suckers at different depths and expirenced better results. Mainly higher and not so close to the bottom. Still getting use to fishing northerns on tip ups and not walleye. Did notice that they must have lowered the water level as the shore lines are cracking and creating a shelf off the shore.

Good luck to all.

Hi JJ,

Thanks for that report. Just a thought, try deeper for the Perch. This time of year they will head to the deeper holes searching for the insect larvae. Try wigglers or crappie minnows on a spoon or jigging rap. Hook the minnows across two of the treble hooks and leave one exposed. There are big Perch in the Big Chip, and now is a good time to catch them.

I'm not going fishing today. Not because of the super bowl, but because I came down with a heck of a cold. But since I'm home, I might as well watch the game heh?

Keep catching those Northerns. They should taste good with all the Walleyes they eat. I saw in a DNR release that they are thinking of a 1 over 14" size limit on the Walleyes on the Chippewa Flowage starting this year. I hope so. With the decline in population over the last few years, they really dropped the ball on their management duties.

Good luck fishing JJ, and keep reporting. I really appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd let everyone know that there is a fishing tournament being held this weekend by Walleyes for northwest Wisconsin on LCO. To find out more, go to there website at www.wfnw.org. This is a good organization that has stocked many extended length Walleyes into the Chippewa Flowage. If any one is in the area, check it out. Sounds like a good time.

Hi Josh,

I never heard of strategic fishing system untill you mentioned it. I looked it up online and read a little bit about it. Sounds like it can be a god fishing tool. I'll have to do more research.
