The past few days fishing for trout has been an up and down roller coaster. Last week Monday-Thurs. you couldn’t keep the trout off your hook. This weekend was our annual Thorne Bros. Outing and trout fishing was tough, we were able to catch enough to have a fantastic dinner, cooked by Brett. We were catching trout on a vertical vibrating blade bait, (Brett) missed quite a few on white tubes. We did catch a couple on a blue tinsel jig. The depths of catching trout were anywhere from 23-70 feet, no consistency.
Ice conditions there were slush spots, but we were still able to continue on. The water has come to the top of the snow, the next five days will be below 0 which will freeze everything up. We have 12-18 inches of ice everywhere. Some guys went up to Rowan, portages were good, with a lot of snow, the slush wasn’t as bad. Fishing on the portage lakes were about the same as Crow Lake.
Crappie fishing where we were had a lot on the graph, but just weren’t biting.
See you on the lake
