What a great 10 day streak it has been on the CAVE even in this cold water. Conditions on the Cave has been a little less than what you would want but the fish have been doing very well. Mountain Muskie Lodge guest landed 9 muskies over 40 inches this past weekend. As of today water temps still haven't broke the 50 degree mark when you start in the mornings. Yesterdays cold rain seem to even knock it down a degree or two, and has increased the level up a couple of feet with mud. Since last Wednesday we have boated 37 fish the majority of legal size up to 45.5 inches most coming on Fat Belly's and glides (finally guys have become real believers in the Fat Belly's) mulitple fish days on these baits have benn common moving them very fast. Other muskies up to 44 came trolling as tight to cover as possible moving fast. Marshad's, Tuff Shads, Wileys and Leos have produced the best trolling, don't overlook trolling rattle baits and Fat Belly's. The entire lake seems to be producing. A friendly reminder that the ENTIRE area behind the boats at Scott's Creek is NO GAS MOTORS, and with the high water there is alot of it, YOU WILL BE TICKETED, ouch. Also the entire Stoney Cove area is off limits to boaters as always but being watched. With the PMTT next week hopefully the water will be in good shape.
If you are in need of some great deals on tackle stop by the Muskie Mart at Peddlers mall, we have new and used stuff at great prices. Also remember the PMTT welcome party Thursday night next week, great stuff. I'm heading to Green for the Kentucky Chapter of Muskies Inc's Cabin Fever Challunge sure to be a great time.
