Fished the FRV Spring Tournament with my very good friend Sam Wilson. Weather ended better than expected with a little wind during late morning/mid-day. We ended up moving 4 fish, one was a scooter size, another mid 30's and a very nice 42-44" by Sam on a 7" Suick. All fish came in a wind sweeped channel that had enough water flow to create an eddy and secchi effect. This is where we found em'. All other places we fished gave us a big goose egg.
Over all, only 5 muskies caught amongst 64 or so teams. Fish though were being seen or lost by numerous teams. A very positve trend over last week's Iron Man. Big Fish 45.5". Congrats to the teams that were lucky to boat a muskie and cash a check.
Fish are defintely on the spawn now. Expect the smaller male fish to start feeding more agressively; the females will take a while to recoup from the spawn activity over the next couple of weeks. Water temps were holding for the most part in the low to mid 50's. Weed growth starting to appear in usual spots. It is looking up!:D
