Opening day greeted all anglers with a light breeze, clear sky's, and a full pool of water, big difference from last year's wind to go along with the low water conditions.

Walleyes were pretty much everywhere Saturday as my 5 friends and I found out on our first stop all the way to our last stop of the day. We started out working deep river channels and found numerous eyes, all were released in hopes of catching larger ones as these were all in the 10 to 13 inch size. Moving away from the channels, we decided to try shallow summer patterns in the wood and old weeds and this paid off big time. Working stump filled humps, points, and shorelines, we found just what we were looking for, nice size walleye. By days end, we had our limits of nice hefty eyes along with a few jumbo perch for our efforts.

Back out today, will keep you posted.

Thanks Don.

Starting out with a bang! It's great to see this forum back on track with some great opener fishing news on the TFF from one of if not the best guides out there. Here’s to more of the same in the future and to a safe and prosperous open water season on the TFF for one and all.

Hello Gals and Guys,

The TFF is alive and well with some great fishing this weekend. Walleyes were the target, but Jumbo Yellow Perch seemed to get to the bait before the walleyes. Our guests were having the best success near dark, but prior to that time the Jumbo Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass (Catch & Release) were providing the action! The shallow rocky shorelines at dusk provided the best action.

Much to the dismay of our experienced anglers casting rapalas and other crank baits, the slip bobber with jig/minnow rig seemed to provide the best action. I say "dismay", as that was what the kids were using as they out-fished their parents! Flourescent green or yellow jigs tipped with minnows were the preference by the walleyes.

Our guests were catching their walleye limits and staying on the water for those Jumbow Yellow Perch with this great weather.

It was a great weekend overall and we look forward to everyones upcoming visits.
