Opening day greeted all anglers with a light breeze, clear sky's, and a full pool of water, big difference from last year's wind to go along with the low water conditions.
Walleyes were pretty much everywhere Saturday as my 5 friends and I found out on our first stop all the way to our last stop of the day. We started out working deep river channels and found numerous eyes, all were released in hopes of catching larger ones as these were all in the 10 to 13 inch size. Moving away from the channels, we decided to try shallow summer patterns in the wood and old weeds and this paid off big time. Working stump filled humps, points, and shorelines, we found just what we were looking for, nice size walleye. By days end, we had our limits of nice hefty eyes along with a few jumbo perch for our efforts.
Back out today, will keep you posted.
