I shot this nice twenty pound gobbler with a ten inch beard on May 4th. I was hunting with my friend Joe Goerges, who was videotaping my hunt. We had birds going off of the roost early, only to have them fly down and head a different direction (possibly with hens). At 10:00am, we came back to this area and I started to call as we were walking downa logging road, and this bird sounded off. We hastily set up and I worked him in from about one hundred yards away with my slate call and my diaphram call. I made the shot from twenty yards out, and I harvested my first Minnesota Tom. I have now taken gobblers in six different states.
Three days later, my neighbor Jason offered to take out my step son, Kyle to a different property, and Kyle was able to harvest his first turkey ever! He shot this Tom at fifteen yards as Jason and I called them in close. I had my video camera and was able to capture this special moment on camera. We sure had a fun week of hunting!
