ESCANABA - After deliberating for just more than two hours, a jury found three Garden Peninsula men charged in connection to illegal fishing activity on Little Bay de Noc guilty.

Wade and Troy Jensen, along with John Earl Halvorson, were found guilty on a charge of conspiracy to buy/sell fish taken without a commercial fishing license.

a year in jail for them 3 at least. Not sure what else besides that though. Stay tuned for saturdays paper

It would seem to me the most effective punishment in this type of case would be something that hits them in the pocketbook--perhaps something that involves re-stocking restitution (and then some) for what they took out of the bay?

After the first group (Schwartz's)were convicted and sentenced one of their "own" reduces the penalty and once again makes the tribe look bad.
A lot of sportsman were upset and angry over this decision.

How about the Saulte Tribe stepping up and offering to help restock the bay with walleye and bring about some closure to this whole dirty episode. I agree it is only a few out their that is giving em all a bad rap!

COME ON TRIBE...STEP UP AND DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR ONCE!!!!

Words escape me right now. Justice for ANY Violator should be able to discourage others from doing the same. Looks like justice has fallen very short in this case. NO CASINO FOR ME E V E R !
