Yup, that's right. I'll be heading to the SW to take the position of Shania Twain's Biggest Fan when she begins her two year stint at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace!!!

Now, I don't have all the details ironed out quite yet. I'm not sure how this will affect my potentional employment at the resort and my obsession with muskie fishing. However, with the first shows not scheduled til December of 2012, there is still time to figure out all the minor crap.

That's what I get for mumbling and thinking out loud about the possibility of Carrie Underwood taking over as the "Queen of All Things" in my world. It's been 6 years since Shania has released new music, but now a new single is forthcoming on June 12 and this most wonderfullest announcement ever! I knew she wouldn't let me down. I never (not totally anyway) gave up hope!!!

What else can I say, ya'll? How about a big ole YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!

At $250 for the top ticket, please watch for periodic rummage sales of slightly used (and many never used) muskie lures!!!

We all just figured it was too good to be true...with you off the lake there would be so many more muskies to go around. We were all in a bit of a state of shock.

Well, I figured the new guy would honor you with a post.

Have you been sniffing the premium gas films? Sleeping alone too much? Have you lost your mind?
I didn't read that post correctly did I?

lville: i think you quite largely overestimate the effects of my time on the water and angler abilities relating to the muskie population. thought I do thank you for the thoughts and joing to post!!

doug: *sniff, sniff" smells like good ole canadian fresh air here...no sign of fumes. haha.

Larry: Shanis does bring smiles and joy to millions so I can see how you might have got things a bit confused. See you in August. Hope to get out in a couple hours for our muskie opener.

I have been coming up to the area, stay in Nestor Falls, for a couple years. Always enjoy reading your posts and figured it was time to get in on some of the fun. My wife mocks me saying that I am hopeless and addicted to my annual journey...I don't disagree. As soon an I see reports of ice out I am on nearly every night living through others stories and pics. Good luck and be safe out there.

December. Vegas. Shania Twain. Sounds like a road trip South to me. I just need to be back for Laker fishing on WFB by the end of January.

Great to have you on the board, Lville. Glad we can be a part of helping get you through those withdrawl symptons.

Eastie: Remember it's not til Dec 2012...if you go this year you might run into that other Canadian female singer that I don't care a lick for. We should run out of money and goodwill from others by the end of January so would be safe to book your laker trip. Although I'm not sure why you call it that since you never made it to WFB last winter, eh?

Okay December 2012 sounds even better. I'll have more time in my new position at work, therefore be able to have back up person trained should I leave for an extended period of time. Or, by then, I'll figure out that the new position sucks and be ready to throw it all away for a life ( two months ) of adventure. I'll also need my wife's buy in to this. Ironically, if it takes me out of a stressful, unhealthy, situation, and leads to a relaxing healthy situation, she'll be 50/50, at worst.

Regarding that " Other Canadian singer " would that be the woman whose carreer should really be riding on an elevator in Vegas, singing to whoever is on that particular elevator and only making CDs that are to be sold to the manufacturers of elevators to be installed on cruise ships, eh?

Regarding my being cracked on for not making it to WFB last Winter. Allow me to clarify. On day one we never made it out of sight of the resort we stayed at, with our fishing gear, due to my ability to lead the whole bunch of us off of the packed trail and in to waist deep snow. I do need to add the disclaimer at this time that it had snowed 12" the evening prior and my advanced age did not offer the capacity to stop and think that the trail beared to the left as it went up the hill, upon leaving the ice. Threre of us did take a ride the afternoon, with just sleds, for the purpose of reconoitering the trip from Eleanor Lake to the Turtle Bay Portage. Upon arrival at the portage we saw that there was so much water on top of the ice that hauling portables up there was going to lead to being stuck, a lot. Going 25+ miles out with no shelter was not a safe choice. We don't set up the shelters or even light our heaters while "Chasing Lakers" but should a wind or storm come up with 12" of fresh loose snow on the ice, the situation could become life threatening. Furthermore, you've seen the guys I fish with, Jerry, Ted, Gary in open water. One of my goals in life is to not be found dead in the wilderness in a group hug with them, or any of the other guys that join us for ice fishing. All because we were desperate to share body heat and help did not arrive in time. Another goal is to avoid having "Made a bad choice" inscribed on my headstone.

Safety first drove our decision to stay in Sabaskong Bay and fish Walleyes. In doing so I led the group to a spot that I figured out, based on the general teachings of a great Morson area guide that we hired on previous years. The spot produced the absolute best Walleye fishing, through the ice, that I ever had one the first day we were on it. It then produced a very good day of Walleye fishing, on day two, for Gary. Jerry practiced his usual skill of "Minnow conservation" that he has perfected while ice fishing LOTW.

Yes, that is the other Canadian singer, who shall forever remain nameless on this board.

Shania is the Queen around here.

Carrie Underwood has been named "Princess-in-Waiting" and "Heiress-to-the-Throne." Carrie's married to a Canadian so I bent the rules for her to be eligible for the crown.

I forgot about your "man-hug" aversion, Eastie.....that alone is reason enough not to wander around on the frozen tundra when conditions are bad.

Glad Jerry doesn't skimp on minnows during open water fishing trips. That would be bad for business, eh.

Yes, he is not known for " Skimping " when it comes to food for humans or game fish. At least, in open water, he uses his fair share of the bait purchased. Through the ice he is much more accomplished at tricking the fish in to letting their guard down due to those among them not turning up missing. Shamelessly, the rest of of capitalize on what he provides. Gotta give him credit though, I've never heard him complain once about a lack of fish through the ice. This despite his uncanny knack of doing everything that the rest of us are doing, with the exception of actually catching fish. He just loves the fact that he is there. That's good, for him. If we could only get some pics of him with the fish that he has managed to not catch. He deserves that much. at the very least.

I will scope out Vegas for you, I am headed there on Sunday for a conference, I heard it has been 117degrees there this past week. I have a room at the Hard Rock with a pool view, should be a tough week.

I stopped in at Thorne Brothers today a ordered a custom predator walleye rod, 2 weeks can’t wait.

Sweet...talked to guys that have said they love their predator walleye rods..i know I LOVE both my custom predator muskie poles.

I'm thinking 100 plus isn't gonna work to good so maybe a seasonal or part time relocation might be better. However do check out the pool view and let me know what you think. Might be worth the heat after all.

Drinks lots of water down there. Between cocktails and beers if you have to. Dehydration will make you miserable!!
