Early to mid June is a great time to be on the water.
Recent warm weather has things heating up.
Our fishing contest began on May 14th. After 28 days, our guests have entered Top Ten numbers for Walleye, Northern Pike, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Perch, Bluegill and Rock Bass. Leaders include a 29 1/2 inch Walleye, 39 inch Pike, 14 inch Crappie, 18 1/4 inch Largemouth Bass, 12 5/8 inch Perch, 10 1/4 inch Bluegill and an 11 inch Rock Bass. Guests arriving the rest of the summer have some lofty (but reachable) numbers to aim for.
We've had several consecutive days of warm weather, which has lifted surface water temperatures in most lakes in this area to over 60 degrees. Waters off our docks are extremely clear and full of life.
Jig and minnow combinations have landed the most Walleyes this spring, but as water temperatures rise, faster action lures like crankbaits will do well. Anglers can better their chances at landing nice walleyes by changing lure colors until you find the color that works best.
For 28 days now we've sold our guests a variety of live bait including Spot Tail Shiners, a nice River Mix, Crappie Minnows, Leeches and Night Crawlers. All baits are producing some kind of fish. You have nine different lakes to fish when you stay with us. Each lake can offer a variety of fish species. Anglers can increase their chances of having a better day of fishing by using a variety of live baits. Having more than one fishing pole helps too.
We still have a few cabins and boats available this summer and fall. If you need a deal...you need to call me.
