Saturday's cool temps along with a day long north wind had the walleyes on edge but it sure didn't slow down the smallies or pike. Starting out vertical jigging 12 foot flats with plenty of submerged stumps, my friends and I came up with 1 keeper eye and a huge jumbo perch on 1/8th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler. We boated 1 more throwback eye before moving on to the windblown bays. These bays did provide us with our remaining limits of eyes during the day, but they were very scattered and it was one here and one there. Although the walleye action wasn't all that great, the smallies and pike seemed to follow us everywhere we went as we caught and released them all day long. We did also manage to pick up 2 more big jumbos along the way. Water temps averaged around 64 degrees.
Back out today with slipbobber rigs for a little rest and relaxation, and hopefully some nice eyes and jumbo perch, will keep you informed.
