Water temp is 68 degree's, it does vary from 66 to 69 degree's.
Lots of rainy days and cool temps.
Bluegills, good action in the shallows, lots of big gills registered this week up to 10 inches. Ice fishing jigs tipped with a waxie or a #8 gold hook and trout worms. Use a small sensitive bobber and a BB size split shot or no split shot at all. These Gills are in less then 2 feet of water and some are right up on the shorelines in less then a foot of water.
Perch, good catches. Nice Perch again this week up to 12 inches. I gotta say that the Tomahawk area has some really good Perch fishing the last few years and its getting better!
Fish for these fish with orange and brown jigs tipped with a half crawler. Work the bait just along the bottom. Another hot setup on Nokomis is a beetlespin but use a small rubber crawfish body instead of the rubber body that comes with it. Use a slow retrieve just fast enough to keep the blade spinning.
Crappies are on and off, nice catches on the area flowages with a 15 inch beauty out of Lake Mohawksin. Once again Nokomis has been the Hot Lake for Crappie. Gulp Minnows with a small spinner is the ticket. Work the weed edges in 5 feet of water. Watch for the Mayfly hatch.
Walleye, some big fish! Walleyes up to 29.5 inches. Anglers are getting some very nice fish. Several limits caught this week. Most of these fish have been weed related but the Dams early morning been on fire with big fish. 3 inch Gulp in the Emerald Shiner color is hot below Kings Dam Spirit Flowage is another dam you want to try too! Its worth getting up early for these big Walleye.
Pike action is still good, nice fish up to 38 inches. What to use? How about anything! Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits, Frogs, Mepps there all HOT!!! Give these Pike a try, lots of fun!
Musky, the largest this week was a 44 incher. Smaller fish are moving with anglers seeing big fish but not much interest yet. All we need is a little increase in water temps and the big Muskie's should turn on. Phatoms, Beavee Chews and Suicks are the hot baits this week.
Overall the weather has not been the best but the fishing is very good!
Good Luck
Dave
