Fishing has been a little tougher the past few days with the bigger mayflies hatching and the strange weather we have had. Clients have caught some very nice walleye and the musky action is starting to heat up! Water level is still very high with all the rain and the water temps are still low but should be heading up with the heat wave.

Jumbo perch action has been good as well. They are hard to find but the size is very nice once you locate a school of them. Bluegill action has been decent in the shallows with fish still spawning. Posted some pics on our Facebook page if you want to see some nice walleye. You can check them out at this link http://www.facebook.com/pages/First-Choice-Guide-Service/127588383935672

Thanks Brian.... Steinberg & I will be up there the week of July 9th... The young guns now have their own lives & decided not go fishing with the old guys... Hope the Minnesota budget gets resolved this week.. Any suggestions on Lost lake? Hope all is well.....Ron

Ron,
Lost is a fun little lake! I would recommend casting spinnerbaits, topwaters and crankbaits/twitchbaits for bass and pike. You can also do well trolling for them with cranks. There is a sunken island that holds nice fish if you can find it...it is kinda on the eastern side of the basin. The lake was good for big panfish years ago but I'm not sure how they are doing these days.

The young guys may need to seek counseling...when you pass up fishing and the consumption of adult beverages a problem has developed:confused:

I hope you two older gentleman have a great trip! You are finally back on a full moon week and the fishing should be good to great.

Judging by the moon phase calendar, the night bite is going to be tough again this year when I'm up there July 31 - August 6. Oh well. With any luck, lead core in the mornings will still put fish in the boat!

Getting anxious!

Wade,

If you night fish you will need to visit a blood bank when you get in...skeeters are unreal this year...day fishing is much more fun.

Thanks for the warning Brian!

Between the skeeters and the new moon, it sounds like evenings will be better spent at the cabin. Fine by me. I'm a morning person anyway!
