Back out on the big pond today with a couple of my long lost cousins, Mike and Burke, and we had a great day on the water. With clear bright sky's, little breeze to speak of, and very warm temps, we found action from the get go. Working weedy shorelines with 1/16th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler, we found numbers of smallies to go along with a good number of eyes, pike and jumbo perch. For the most part, all species were relating in the weeds and hugging the bottom, but would take our offering if presented slowly. We found one hefty eye here and there to go along with 4 to 5 smallies for each eye. We picked up 3 large jumbo perch and 4 decent pike off a sharp weedline starting at 3 feet that dropped off into 8 feet with a muddy bottom. We then switched to working some midlake humps and we found several more smallies along with some very hefty eyes, the largest being 24 inches that we took pics of and released. A great day for us and hope everyone else did too.
