Finally we are getting some relief from the hot, hot weather....actually needed to wear a sweatshirt all day today to stay comfortable.
Water temps are slowly dropping....74 to 76 on most lakes right now....as water temps drop and weather stabilizes, the fishing will pick up more and more.
Walleyes.....using lots of different structures.....mid lake rocks, deep wind blown weed edges, and deep sandgrass. Leeches and nightcrawlers are livebaits of choice....keep it simple, lightest jigs that you can get away with(1/16 to 1/8) and clean rigged slip bobbers. Work areas with jigs and livebait until you find some fish, then anchor and use slip bobbers and continue to fan cast area with the jig/livebait combos....
Smallmouth/largemouth.....they are using lots of the same structures as walleyes are...expect to get some bonus bass mixed in with the 'eyes.
Muskies.....probably the most affected with the hot weather...fish are using weeds, weed-edges, and open water....also finding muskies working some of the same rock bars that walleyes are too.
Suicks, Cowgirls in the weeds.....Live Actions, Depth Raiders, Bulldawgs in the deeper areas...if you can, fish the early mornings, and evenings and after dark.
Here are some photos from this week....Congrats to Linda for her first musky today!
