The past several days has seen a very good bite from all panfish species in the deep stumps and cribs. Big crappies, jumbo perch, and big gills are in these areas and in very good numbers. 1/16th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with a small piece of crawler, and keeping your bait a foot off the bottom is the key to successful vertical jigging these areas. Walleyes are also being taken the same way in these spots, but not in big numbers. The best walleye action that I've found, especially on the days when it's not so windy is drifting and vertical jigging in 8 to 12 feet depths out in the big water. 1/8th ounce weedless jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler has been working the best.

Anyone fishing in the Bonies Mound area should check out the Grant Lake bogs as there has been a beautiful great egret hanging out there for the last couple of weeks, can't miss it, it's pure white and just stunning.
