View Full Version : Tionesta Lake Closed ?

According the the PFBC site Tionesta lake is closed as of September 14th. Anyone know why or if it is still closed ?

I am surprised by this and have not idea why it closed early this year. The only thing I know of that is going on there is the repair of the Nebraska Bridge which is being done by PennDot.
Water levels are normal so that shouldn't be the reason.

I just spoke to the Army Corps of Engineers and was informed that the lake was closed because of the 9/11 threat and since that threat has past they have reopened the lake. I also spoke to the Fish and Boat Commission and they said they didn't know why the lake was closed but you could still use the Nebraska Access.
I didn't hear of any other lakes being closed because of 9/11, did anyone else?

I had to use the Nebraska launch on 9/11 but was told it was just for that particular day.

Puzzling. Thanks guys . Might be a few disappointed guys try to use the launch for the tourney this weekend.

The lake is open according according to the ARMY CORPS, I did run into to issues at another lake over 9/11 but they said it was due to flooding concern. It seems to me though that while one says its open the other say its closed???????

Was on Tionesta Lake week of 10/9/2011. Definately open.
