When we come up this summer would a side day trip to nelson lake be worth it /according to internet site they are a walleye and crappie lake . Any thoughts

I haven't heard much on the walleye out there yet. You don't need to leave the Chip to go crappie fishing. I'd say the Chip is the best around for crappie.

In the days of yor, Nelson would have been a great lake to give a shot to (tho more for 'eyes and 'gills), but if I was going to leave the chip for those two fish in that area, two choices to consider might be LCO and Namekagon.
