There were a lot of people up this weekend, (more than we've seen in the fall in a long time.) Most of the reports we got back at the shop were of good to excellent fishing at night. Lots of fish in the 20 to 26 inch range, and several over 30 inches.
If you're not a registered user of the site but would still like to post something, just shoot me an email at baitshop2@chartermi.net with your report and any pics you'd like to include, and I'll post it for you.

We fished Friday and Saturday nights. The bite was much better Friday than Saturday for us but was still pretty good both days. There were more boats than I've seen in a long time. The 10-12 foot water up north was productive for most of the guys I talked to but some got fish in the 28-32 foot water pulling leadcore. Daytime bite was not good for us other than a few northerns and just a couple of walleyes.

Ive been fishing everyday this month...
The Walleyes have been hitting spoons as its getting dark...
After dark Pike suckers ( 6" to 8"s ) 4' to 6' down in 8' to 10' of water...
The Northerns are on one day off the next...
But Ive been putting them in the boat using 1 oz spoons, and X raps divers size 14...
Also they have been hitting suckers about 2 hours before dark...
The Musky fishing as been slow untill Monday when it was a little warmer we had 3 of them next to the boat, and a client landed a 51" 34# on Monday on a Bull dog...
Other wise jiging with plastics or 16" suckers just off the bottom on the edge of extream drop offs...

Where are you fishing, Sea Weed? I only ask because muskies aren't exactly a common catch on Little Bay de Noc.
Here's a report from Mike Cesario from this past weekend -
Made the trip up to the U.P. friday after work. Met my nephew and his friend up there and started fishing shortly after dark. After struggling with the wind and not sure if we should start with the crowd or set up away and move in, we opted to set up away and stay a little deeper than the group was fishing. We only landed one small fish (18.5) the other 5 were 21.5" to 25". It was a bit slower than we expected but we were off the more aggressive bite but into a slightly larger class of fish than the majority that we talked to. Purple and yellow (blueberry muffin) Ripstick was our hot bait. My nephew and I fished all day Saturday (8:00 - 3:00) for a zero, all reports were similar. The two of us went out Saturday evening, it started off slow until we banged 4 fish in short order 1 - 17.5", and 3 - 22" to 24", then we were dead for 2 hours and pulled to go in. We talked to a few who stayed with it Saturday night and explained the bite really turned on after 11:30 when the wind started to kick up a bit more, we were in a warm establishment enjoying beverages and pizza at that time. I guess we had our own bite going. The Saturday eve report had similar colors with pink and white being reported as also being successful. There were plenty of fish to be had, we were just a little off on the set up and location (first time blues), we will return and give it a try again before ice up. Thanks to The great people at Bay View especially Nick and the The Bait Shop Guy for the assistance and direction.

Here's a reports and pic from another Mike -
Fished Friday and Saturday, with a two person limit each day. Most fish came after the sun hit the tree line, and it was non stop action with doubles and triples on many passes. Many good size eaters along with some big ones, and one that's going on the wall. Top out at 31.50 inches 11.75 lb. What a great trip and a big Thanks to all the great people in the area. Been fishing the bay for 20 + years, with maybe not the best fishing just a few times, it will still and always will be my favorite place to fish...
Thanks

I saw that fish in person and it's way bigger than it looks in the picture. Congratulations on a great fish!!

I'd be really interested to hear what the other Mike was doing, that we were not doing. Any chance you could pass me his contact information?
Thanks

There's no replacement for time on the water. All things considered, you guys did alright for first timers on the bay. A lot of people find they have to fish it 2 or 3 times before they have much luck. As Mike said, he's fished the bay for over 20 years, so you're bound to figure out a few things over time. I passed your request for contact info on to him.
Good luck if you get out again this season.
