Matt's been out on the ice the last few days. I showed up in time to watch him ice a couple pike before we headed off to Musky Lodge to record the latest RFRG podcast. Here's Matt's report:
Cold air temps are beginning to work through the remaining snow cover. Still too thin in some areas, areas where snow turned to slush it froze, creating a fairly safe surface to begin working with. We were dealing with 3-4in of ice in those areas. This is on a couple smaller lakes and shallow bays, full safety precautions still warrented! I can still spud out and find skinny "one-punch" ice that's enough to creep us out as we slowly back away... Got a nice fat pike today and perhaps a wally hit-n-drop, both right at sunset on the ER Chain.
