I had just a few hours this morning to chase perch north of Kipling. I had to go through small fish for each keeper I caught. The day was surprising in one sense: the perch showed a strong preference for one lure over all others. This was the small size Genz Worm, which is like a small, heavy jig that hangs horizontally in the water. The color was glow blue which actually looks like a white body with blue eyes. It was tipped with spikes. I tried a dozen other proven presentations at the same time and watched on camera as perch swarmed the Genz Worm each time it was used while swimming past the other lures. I have seldom seen such a strong preference. Even the smallest size Jigging Rap was ignored and it also hangs horizontally. Go figure! It shows the importance of being versatile and trying different presentations.
