Went up to Alger County at the beginning of this week and fished a couple of inland lakes. Ice was very think 18-24 inches in most spots and snow depth of about 5 or 6 inches. Four of us landed over 40 rainbows and a bonus brook trout. We also lost many many fish. We fished 4'-8' of water and moved constantly. Popular lures were orange moon jigs tipped with butterworms and orange marmooskas tipped with butterworms. We did use minnows, wax worms, wigglers, and worms but we were most productive with butterworms. It is always a blast to visit the northern inland lakes!
