Cold nights have been cooling the water temps and the fishing action. The up and down temps have anglers scratching their heads wondering if the Walleye's have spawned yet. Most fish that we caught this week were still full of spawn (Monday) on Lake Mohawksin. Anglers fishing for Perch were saying they were still full of spawn too. Strange spring for sure.
If your fishing for walleye's Gulp Alive minnows are still the hot bait, all the fish we caught were on these 3" baits with a 1/8 oz purple jig. Late afternoon hours are best for us. I think the spawn will happen by this weekend.
Bluegills are back out in the deeper water again with the cold temps but we did see some moving back in as the day went on. Waxies and small ice jigs should get you some action.
Pike are right up in the shallows spawning now.
Crappies are deep, try fishing right in the trestle pilings, use small minnows and get your bait right along the pilings and slowly drop it to the bottom. Repeat this untill you find the depth their at.
Perch, fish the 4 to 6 foot depth with jigs and minnows. Dark bottoms with wood structure is there hangout right now.
Good Luck
Dave
