A guide client rescheduled a trip he booked for the 14th until mid-May, so Kay and I on a whim decided to fish the walleye tournament at Michael's Landing on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s hours were 7 am till 3 pm, and Sundays were 7 am till noon. Saturday was a nice day, a bit cloudy and cool in the morning, but the sun came out around noon and it got up into the 70's. We pulled cranks in 3-4 feet of water and finished Saturday with 8 "keepers" that weighed 12.4 pounds, 7 "shorties", 2 in the slot, 10 white bass, and one smallmouth. On Sunday the day started with thunderstorms going thru after mid-night and a heavy rain at the 7 am take-off. By the time we got to the spot where we were going to start the day the rain had all but stopped. We used the same pattern in two different locations and finished at 11:30 with 6 "keepers" that tipped the scales at 9.0 pounds, 5 "shorties", 8 white bass, and 1 big cat. Our 21.4 pound total was enough to tilt the table in our favor. This is the first tournament Kay and I have fished since the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament in 2004 and it was a fun time, but tiring and tough on the old body when you haven't done it in a while.
Shallow water temps are in the mid 50's, so the male crappies should move in really soon.

Keep a tight line!!!:)
