We did some crappie fishing yesterday and caught quite a few. I'd say the crappie are at the same stage they would normally be at in mid May. Right now they are easy to catch with either a slow moving little crankbait like the new Rapala Ultra Light Shad or just a plain old jig and bobber technique. We caught a lot more on jig and plastics than anything. Most of the Crappie were about three feet down and cruising around any old weedbed from last year. There aren't many new weeds quite yet but some of last years are starting to bud out so to speak. The next two days are going to be warm so the crappie will be even easier to catch. I'm not sure they get much easier to catch though.
Good luck,
