I am thinking of camping in Gladstone this weekend and just wondering how the perch fishing has been the last few days.

We did ok on Saturday, (see my last post in the Perch Tournament thread.) I fished the same area last night. It was like glass when I started, and the bite was totally off. When the wind started to pick up, they started to bite, but it was all small perch and walleyes. Motored down to the narrows and started marking fish a little further south, and a little shallower, (35 to 40 FOW,) than we had been getting them in last week. This was just before sunset when the perch bite usually shuts off, so I didn't even drop a line.
Anyway, if you look around in 35 to 45 FOW in the narrows or along the East Bank of the upper bay, you should find some fish. Been getting some fish on minnows and worms, but wigglers have been by far the best bait.

I went far south to the big flats between the Municipal Dock in Escanaba and the Coal Docks and found a school of perch in 40 FOW. I caught a dozen before the bite slowed. I used Swedish Pimples straight over the side of the boat. Almost like ice fishing! Size 3 was best given the depth.
