This past weekend I was fishing on a deep, clear lake with good success on the walleye, perch and occasional northern pike. Water temps were in the 56-58 degree range and winds were out of the North at 0-5 mph. It was clear skies and light wind...very comfortable fishing weather! Weed growth is right on schedule - obviously not as developed as the TL or ER Chains - at about 4 to 6 inches off the bottom in 10 feet of water. A 1/16th oz chartreuse color jig and a fathead minnow worked well and slip bobber rigs set very tight to the bottom were also effective. Be sure to mix it up to see whether the walleye prefer a hook or a jig slip bobber presentation - this can make a big difference in the action!
More to come soon! I am still editing all the footage from opening weekend so hopefully I will have that highlight reel posted on my website and Facebook page soon.
Good luck and fish hard!
