Another great opener on Lake of the Woods. Many long time groups declared it one of their best trips ever, while one said it was their best fishing ever for the Ontario Walleye opener.
Weather was a little hinky to start off with wind and rain on Opening Day, but then things turned warmer and stable most of the rest of the week. A little slow down in action reported when the wind shifted signifcantly to the east after several days of westerly based breezes.
Our groups were fishing a combination of usual spots and new spots...the majority of fish were caught in 6-15 feet dragging spinners or bouncing jigs off the bottom while working shorelines and points....with live bait wih minnows being the most prominent choice.
Mutitple personal bests acheived during the week with the biggest being a 29.5" walleye that will be mounted after an attempted release was unsuccessful.
Northern action was a bit slower in Obabikon Bay for one of our groups during the adventure north.
Another busy week coming up so we'll expect to the fishing to continue to be good.
