Brought my buddy Bruce Belanger out for a little bass fishing on the Escanaba River a couple nights ago. Bite was tough, but we did cross paths with a couple good ones. My best was 19 1/2 incher that took a topwater bait. Bruce's best was an 18 3/4 that was the biggest bass he had ever caught. He got that one on a Mann's Baby 1- crankbait. We stuck a fair number of fish, but they kept jumping off, (if you're going to lose fish, that's the way to do it!)
Towards dark we dropped down to the mouth of the river and trolled mini cranks for walleyes. We landed 10 fish, but only one was keeper sized, (pretty typical for that spot, this time of year.) Good spot to bring kids or if you just want to play with a lot of fish in a short amount of time.
