Hi everyone,

Guided a father-son yesterday and watched as they both caught thier first walleyes ever. Under a hot, mostly sunny sky with a SW wind that made it bearable, we had a good time catching 9 walleyes, keeping three, and releasing lots of sm bass, and dozens of bluegills with many ranging up to 9".

Caught most everyting on leadfree jigs and leeches with a few on the bobber rig fishing over woody humps. The walleyes were not real active and we missed many hits. They were just stoping the jig and would not take it completely. With patience and diligence, we were able to get the hook in a few.

If you need a guide to show you spots that are productive now and would like to be one of the first to help me field test my new leadfree jigs, give me a call or email. We can set up a productive day on the water. Remember that I do allow you to bring a hand held GPS unit to record the spots I show you for future reference. Good luck fishing everyone.

Sounds like you guys had a good day! So, Tom when do you think leeches will turn off and what should be used after they do?

Hi Josh,

Leeches never turn off. They bury themselves by late summer-early fall and are impossible to get. Only leech farms in Minn. have leeches past that time and no one around here will carry them. I've used leeches in Sastatchuaen as late as late Oct. and they still caught a lot of walleyes and big ones. Around here I buy pounds of them when I'm told they are getting scarce. After I run out, I use minnows. Did you get out this weekend? Good luck fishing everyone.
