8/18
a 2 day cool front, some winds and rain, and longer cooler nites have dropped the water temps into the high 60's-low 70's,
daytime air temps avging 70's.
walleyes especially the better size fish are having a tendency to be a bit deeper now 28-38'.
best avg size of slot fish and over has been northern and western sections, lots of numbers of smaller fish in central sections.
lindy rigs and big minnows and jigs and crawlers have been best. now that fish are dropping off edges of some of the bars to the flats just off them and deeper hard bottom areas bouncing with spinners should be a good choice to give a try also.
big pike 36-44" are being caught daily by walleye fishermen. trolling deeper running big cranks are also producing big pike.
lakers are biting good and big avg size, largerst last week was a 40",28#er. over deepest water 90-110' 60-70' down. trolling 1.5 spoons and jigging tubes and buzz bombs.
muskies are now responding well with the cool down, not as many fish following but more biting out and or coming in hot. blades, gramas, double dawgs, depth raiders, topwater should kick in again also. both weeds and rocks.
biggest fish last week was young rob's 53.5,mike 52.5,rob senior 49.5,spanky group had 14 up to 48, a bunch of 38-48"ers,and as always many more and some good ones 50+ lost.
some of the best fishing is coming up and weather avgs are pleasent,a great time to be in the north woods next 4-5 weeks,if you are considering give us a call for specials on remaining availablity.
good luck!!

Herbie,

Are you guys still having some Walleye fisherman seeing some of the jumbos with the walleyes? Or with the cooler water temps, are Muskies starting to slide a bit shallower?

Sounds like the Muskies are about to cut loose...
