Walleyes were better out west (firebag, north island, pony island) but a few were caught closer to home as well. More numbers than size this past week. Humps out west and some shorelines closer to camp were the ticket.

Muskies were mostly rock related. Again. Several fish in the 47-48 range and a nice 50.25". Bucktails, topwaters, crankbaits and jerk baits all produced action during the Gil Hamm Chapter Challunge.

Several teams staying at the resort did well in compeition so it was an exciting week.

Crappies have started to hit, both some in Miles Bay and Obabikon Lake.

Fall is definitely here with some colours apearing on the trees and bears roaming around hungry without a berry crop to speak of. Be extra bear-wise on your stays in the area through the rest of the season.

All the best to the kids back in school for a great academic and extra-curricual year.

Cheers.

Hi Justin, We fished that week and stayed just north of the abandoned fish shack. The group ended up with 23 Muskys released with the biggest a 48" taking the pot. I would say 85% were over forty. Bucktails were King as some turbo's and mini's took a few off the top. Burning them seemed to be key as well as being rock related. Funny you mention the Bears as we were visited every night and the Oak Tree's, the grill and a cooler took a beating. Bad Bear!!

Sounds like a great trip. Bears have been a pain around here too. Thank you for the report.
