Mike and his wife Joanna from Huntley, Il. booked a trip for Monday the 17th, but with the weather looking bad for that day we moved it to Sunday instead. A nice sunny day, but the wind made boat control tough as the morning progressed. We jigged minnows and leeches along the break on the buoy line in and around the tree tops. The fish were not very aggressive this morning so it was hard to detect the bite. They just wanted to hang on to the minnow and not engulf the jig. We missed a lot of fish but boated a lot of "shorties", some white bass, catfish, and one nice pike. They had never used planer boards before so we put them in the water and we could not keep the 7"-10" "shorties off the cranks. We must have boated about 25 in-all, with no "keepers" to our credit. A big cold front is supposed to come in tonight so that might shut the off for a few days, along with the thunderstorms we are going to get.
