Hi everyone,

Picked Bill up for a half day of guiding yesterday morning. We had a cold start with the air temps at 17 degrees, but very little wind and sunny skies. Unfortunatly the wind kept getting stronger and stronger from the North West untill we had major seas by mid mornig. We set out to find walleyes with minnows and leeches but With the rapid cool down of the water, 51 degrees from 62 - 2 days ago, the walleyes were nowhere to be seen. We did catch nice crappies and perch and even a northern. We kept 5 crappie and 2 perch releaseing everything else.

The minnows out produced the leches on this day and we fished deeper wood. With the water temps cooling down, the walleyes and indeed all the fish will slid down to deeper structures and cover. When the water temps drop that fast, it puts a lot of stress on the fish and the walleyes and bass are the last of the fish to resume an active life style. It might be a while for them to get back into thier fall patterns. When the conditions settle down, then we will have some super fishing for all fish. With the many, many bug hatches I have seen the last two month's, there should be lots of food to fatten up the walleyes and indeed all fish. If you want to chase fat fall walleyes for a possible trophy, give me a call. Good luck fishing everyone.
