Hi everyone,
Fished in some cold weather with a strong North wind making more then a good walleye chop.It was finger numding but fun. The walleyes were for the most part hiding from the cold. I only caught 1 little one but the crappies were playing ball and I wound up catching a couple dozen keeping only 5 for the pan. Caught a snake northern to round out the day. Caught everything on jig and minnow. Nothing touched the slip bobber rig. All were on deep wood. Saw another bug hatch going on today. Worth mentioning because it was thick with bugs coming back to lay eggs then fly off. I watched as the wind swept them far away real quick.
The water continues to cool down real quick. It was 47 degrees today compared to 62 exactly a week ago. We need stable weather to kick start the walleyes . When the fall patterns start it should bring a consistent bite. With the abundant forage the walleyes should be healty. Good luck fishing everyone.
