We just love fishing out in LBDN. You never know what you are going to catch. Today we caught a nice new big Rapalla by way of a carp. The flag went up on the tip-up and the line had snagged onto another line. It was coming in kind of slow with weeds attached and all of a sudden it got real heavy. We could see the carp circling the hole through the ice. Our hole had kind of iced in and I don't think the carp would have fit even if we had been able to gaff it. The lure released when we were trying to get it up the hole. That lure just paid for more minnows! Well, we still had the other end of line still down and after yards and yards of pulling and snagging onto weeds or bottom it finally snapped. We were wondering if there was a pole on the end of it???
Otherwise the ice at the head of the bay was good by us, about 5 inches. It is such a phenomenon to be able to walk on this frozen water and to be able to see what is underneath that clear ice!!! We are incredibly blessed to be able to experience and use this resource. Later in the day the wind really kicked up the ice thunder and ice quakes...kind of creepy. Just kept a few perch.
