FISHING REPORT by Steve Suman
Walleye:
Walleye action is inconsistent, though some anglers are taking some nice fish. Best bite windows are during low-light conditions (early morning/evening/dark). Top locations include weed lines, structure, gravel/rock bars, mud/muck flats in 4-30 feet. Bait preferences include walleye suckers and golden shiners on tip-ups; jigs and fatheads; Jigging Raps; and jigging spoons with minnow pieces.

Northern:
Northern pike continue to offer anglers fair to good fishing action on most lakes. Look for pike in/over/around weed lines and near structure in 4-15 feet of water, with bigger fish in deeper depths. Northern suckers and golden shiners fished on tip-ups are the most productive presentations.

Crappie:
The best crappie bite is in early morning and just before dark. Look for fish on/over weed lines, in deep holes, and suspending over deeper water in 4-25 feet, and they could be anywhere in the water column. The most productive baits include crappie minnows and fatheads; waxies, wigglers, spikes, plastics, and Gulp! baits on ice jigs; and small jigging spoons.

Bluegill:
Bluegill action is fair to good around green weeds in depths from 5-25 feet of water, with the best times varying from lake to lake. Bait choices include waxies, spikes, wigglers, and Gulp! baits on plain hooks, small ice jigs/teardrops, plastics, and Tattle-Tails.

Perch:
Anglers are catching perch in mid-depth weed beds and near bottom in deeper water with fatheads and crappie minnows on tip-ups and tip-downs. Many walleye anglers are catching them in the deep, clear lakes.
