Hi all,

Fished for a hour today and kept enough fish for a fish fry so i packed it up and headed in. Fished around 24 feet again and measured the ice this time and i thought it was a good 15 inches. Snowmobiles were out in force today as we got a few inches of light snow a couple days back. Fish didnt seem to mind the noise though as a couple times i marked fish and the fish didnt seem to mind and still hit the waxie. Might go out again tomorrow if i can get the snowmobile started:) Good luck fishing everyone!

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the reports. I've been so busy with the new house and my new bussiness venture. Another weekend or two and we'll have the house in shape. Then I'm going fishing!!! I've got an idea for your snowmobile. I'll give you a call and run it by you. Good luck fishing everyone.

Maxx or Josh, do either of you know if any of the resorts on the flowage rent cabins during the ice season. Excluding the Chief Lake area. Thinking of coming up possibly before ice out. Also, is there a decent pike bite through the ice? Don't see much on the various sites about pike through the ice on the flowage.

Hi Tony,

Deerfoot lodge is open during the winter. Nice place with good people. As far as northerns go, I haven't been seeing to much info on them. However, the crappie fishing has been outstanding this year with lots of 12"-14" fish being caught. When we're done working on the house in Radisson, I'll be spending time chasing them. Watch Gilespie this next saturday. He will be with Ty sennet fishing the Big Chip. I heard they caught lots of crappies. Should be an excellent show. Let me know when you'll be at the Big Chip. We'll have to hook up and do some serious fishing. Good luck fishing.

Thanks, I'm familiar with Deerfoot. Stayed there a few times in the late 90's. Also stop at the bar every so often for their cheeseburgers when I'm up on the flowage. That was of the resorts that my wife and I are considering booking a cabin at this coming July. It's in close proximity to some of my favorite areas down by Indian Trail. If I recall they have a nice beach and play area for children. Is their good crappie action for ice fishing near Deerfoot? Obviously can't get around as easily on the ice in the winter as you can with a boat in the summer.

Hi Tony,

Next time you're at Deerfoot, try their Philly cheese steaks. There is some good crappie fishing close by Deerfoot. When you go, give me a call. I can steer you in the right direction. In the summer they do have a good sandy beach and play area for your kids.
