FISHING REPORT
Walleye:
Walleye success continues to be in short windows of opportunity, primarily on the deep, clear lakes. Very early morning and evening into after dark are the best times to hit those windows. Target deeper bars, structure, and flats with walleye suckers and shiners under tip-ups, fatheads on jigs, or Jigging Raps.
Northern:
Northern pike action slowed a bit, though anglers still catching good numbers of fish. Concentrate on 4-18 feet of water in/on/around weeds, weed edges, flats, and anywhere you find panfish. Northern suckers and shiners fished under tip-ups is the most effective presentation. Work deeper water with bigger bait for trophy pike.
Crappie:
Crappie fishing is best in early morning and at dusk. Move until you find them. Depths vary and fish can be anywhere in the water column – so check everywhere in the water column! Baits of choice include crappie minnows, fatheads, waxies, wigglers, spikes, Gulp! baits, and plastics on small jigs or plain hooks, and small jigging spoons.
Bluegill:
Bluegill action is spotty. Look for ‘gills in 6-30 feet of water near weeds, weed lines, and tight to bottom, but check the entire water column. Use waxies, plastics, spikes, wigglers, and Gulp! baits, and downsize your offerings – line, hooks, and jigs.
Perch:
Perch action is fair to good, primarily on the big, clear lakes, on the bottom of transition areas and deeper water mud flats with waxies, plastics, and fatheads.
