I had four guys out on the 6th and we fished for pike for a couple cold hours in the morning and then crappie the rest of the day. The pike were tough to get as we missed quite a few of them. It was a little cold at 8 below zero but it really didn't feel that cold. We caught a few small ones and fed one to some eagles in the tree next to us. At about 11AM we switched to crappie and nailed them pretty good. We didn't catch any real big ones but a lot of good eater sized ones. Once they caught about as many as they wanted to keep they called it a day. I think they kept about thirty between the four of them. That was a good amount for the four of them. A lot of people think they need to keep their limit of 25 per person but that's a lot of fish to keep. About ten per person is more than enough if you ask me but then again I can go out and catch some on my days off if I want a meal so I am a little biased.
