Subject: Senate Passes Emergency Dredging Funds
Yesterday the Michigan Senate passed SB233 which includes $21 million in funding emergency dredging of Michigan's federal channels and state marinas/waterways. You can Google Michigan Senate Bill 233 for articles on this approval. I NEED YOUR HELP in getting similar passage of this bill in the House. PLEASE call or email your State Representative requesting that he or she support passage of SB233 in the House with at least the $21 million passed by the Senate. Your engagement is really important as we need to get moving very quickly with this dredging or we risk having our channels and waterways closed or a danger to safe boating this season. So please take 5 minutes now and contact your Representative for support of SB233.
Also, as we discussed at our meeting in Lansing on Feb. 27th, be sure to communicate facts to your State Senator and Representative as well as the DNR if you consider your federal harbor channel will be closed or at risk to safe boating (particularly sailboats) this summer. Let them know of your specific dredging needs and your best estimate of cost. Please be factual.
