The season started off with a bang. The first fish was a 25 lb. carp that actually hit a J-11 Floating Rapala - it was not snagged. The lure was in its mouth! Continuing to troll we caught six walleyes from 18 to 25 inches. A 19 inch smallmouth came aboard long enough to be released. Of course we also went through a dozen or more pike during all this. Most were small. We tried some jigging, but got only one walleye that way. Most of our action was in the central bay area on the shallower flats before and just after sunrise.
