Lake of the Woods surface temperatures reaching 70 degrees and Kakagi (Crow) Lake starting to approach 60 degrees.
The Muskie Opener is approaching quickly with several groups getting ready right now. Hearing about Muskie sightings shallow, back in the bays and on the rock piles.
Lake Trout - Last week was pretty good and starting to see a few bigger Lake Trout with 7 over 10 pounds. Lake Trout still scattered through the water column which makes catching a few fairly easy, but tougher to catch quantity.
Walleye - Seem to be biting well, but not being targeted often - best was a 31".
Northern Pike - Stevens Bay encounters vary from 10 per day to 100 per day, so still some good Northern Pike fishing. Whitefish Bay, Kakagi Lake, and Jessie Lake all have had some hungry Pike - casting, trolling, live bait and plastic's all working for Northern Pike.
Bass - action coming around everywhere, expect the warmer lakes to be post spawn and colder lakes like Kakagi and Whitefish Bay mostly pre-spawn this week. Lots of 3-5 pound Smallies being found and three 5 pound Largemouth bass reported.
Crappie - down to mostly the occasional accidental Crappie.
Dock Perch - are very hungry, but beware of the bigger fish lurking in the bay :)
Regards,
