Hi everyone,
Guided Kai for a full day again yesterday. Since Kai fishes lake Erie for walleye and perch a lot, he expressed an interest to fish for other species. So out came the spinners and crank baits and we fished the weed pattern all day. We caught Lgm bass, Sm bass, crappies, bluegills, perch, and Kai caught his first northern ever.
The action came in spurts as we would come on a weed bed and the action would be fast, then go an hour hitting other weed point,humps, and bars having very little action. The only conclusion I could make was that the thicker the weeds, the better. The best was when I found cabbage mixed with the stringy weeds. When we were constantly peeling the salad off our baits, the better the action.
The weather was hot with a filtered sun shine that just baked us. A very weak wind from the southwest kicked up for a min. then just die with very little air moving. Still very beautifull to be on the Big Chip. Good luck fishing everyone.
