water temps now 70+.
had some up and down weather thru the week with a couple partly rainy days but temps remained pleasent. thru next week to be stable and high 70's.
mayfly hatch started early week but looks/appears to be a relativley short lived hatch compared to last year since water temps have risen above normal hatching temps.if we get a cold front and temps drop 5-8 degrees it could start again in ernest but that is not projected.
walleyes still on mud flats and grass but some big fish in heavy cabbage beds.best jigged with weedless jigs or slo pokes. also large movement going on to the reefs and big avg size fish now showing up regularly with a number of fish over slot 24-30" wed-fri..should just keep getting better and the reef bite will continue to develop daily. lindy rigs and jigs at 15-21'.
big pike were caught by paulie last week on boat cache lakes 34-43" casting spoons, spinners, and jerkbaits and by musky fishermen on eagle as some are showing up now in weed beds as they mature.as more fishing gets done for walleyes on reefs near deep water more big pike will be caught also.
bass post spawn roaming broken rock shorelines and reed edges. topwater, cranks, tubes, flukes, jig and leeches.
muskies toughen up a bit last week going from avg moving 8-15+ fish daily to avg 4-10 fish daily by expereinced and lake knowledgable fishermen and guides but a 51"2 49.5,3 48,some 42-47"er were boated by a limited number of anglers targeting them. mostly blades and both weeds and rocks. should go back to last weeks level of activity level sometime this week now that mayfly hatch is dying down and all thier forage isn't up high, fat, lazy, and easy to catch and quickly rising water temps stabilize.up to this point periods of sun were best throughout the day.
till next report good luck!!check prior post and facebook for remaining availablity and a great time if the itch needs to get scratched.
