We had another great Ray Demers Memorial Can-Am tournament on Lake St. Clair. This lake continues to amaze me with the size and number of Muskies it puts out.
We had 101 people sign up to fish on Friday evening. The weather was good for fishing on both Saturday and Sunday, with a near full moon on Saturday. There was one storm event Saturday evening that disrupted most boats. I looked at the time that the big fish were caught and many were caught just before the storm hit and also near the full moon rise.
Here are the top 5 places;
1st - 54.25" Elmer Heyob, Central Ohio
2nd - 52.5" Chris Scott
3rd - 52" Paul Mortier
4th - 51.5" Jerry Stayer, Central Ohio
5th - 51.5" Chris Stayer, Central Ohio
Youth division winner - 40" Ben Knapp
Chapter Challunge winner - Central Ohio, Chris Stayer, 51.5" and 48.5"
There were 8 fish 50" or longer, and 19 legal fish(44"+) or longer.
Other Central Ohio member fish;
50" Ben Sommers
49.75" Sharon Potvin
49.25" Bob Sisson
48.25" Chris Stayer
48" Brian Culbertson
47.75" Randy Parker
46.5" Shawn Arndt
45" Rob VanGorder
We collected over 1000 cans of food for the Lakeshore Food bank. A big thank you to everyone who donated food items. This is our way of giving back to the local community. The food bank raffle was held after the Saturday meal. Doug Grahl won the Grand prize of the Windsor Caesars Casino "Get a way" package.
The pork roast meal on Saturday was fantastic again and there was enough leftovers to feed us on Sunday too. Anita Bauer and the ladies who help prepare and serve this meal sure did a great job and I want to thank them very much.
We had a door prize for everyone who entered the tourney and these were given out on Sunday after the trophies were awarded. I want to thank everyone who attended and supported this event. I want to thank everyone who helped put this event on, especially Bruce and Anita Bauer, Paul Lalonde, and the guys who hauled tables and set up the tent. Also thanks to all who donated prizes and items for raffles.
