the week started out hot with temps high 80's-90's,water temps upper 70's. thurs nite a storm came through with alot of wind nw and a cool down into the low 70's thru fri and into fri around dark followed by a cool nite. water temps low 70's. weather projected through next week low-mid 70's so water temps should remain at optimum activity level temps.
mayfly hatch over and there are so many walleyes stacked on humps, points, and reefs at 15-22'it's almost unbelievable, looks like your locator is on simulator on some spots.main lake, portage been best with west arm perking up and should go into drive this week.jigs and lindy rigs with minnows on smaller humps/bars and lindys, bottom bouncers,3 ways, and lindys with spinner rigs and crawlers on bigger rock/sand bars and hard bottom locations.
nice pike 26-40" have been caught daily fishing walleyes as well some good fish still in the weeds for those casting spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, buzzbaits.
both 4wds and fly-ins have been outstanding.penningtons reported 250 fish yesterday on a fly-in with danny.
lake trout on eagle have picked up trolling spoons at 70' mostly trout hole 0 - 1 and portage while trout on deep portage lakes generally shallower at 40-60'.
musky activity has been good with guides moving good numbers of fish 40-53"+ and opportunity/hookups daily.some really big fish 54-55"+ have been moving ,hooked and lost most action mornings and pms through hot part of the week, fri after storm and cool front moved in numbers of follows decreased but when a fish came it was coming hard and catchable. with water temps back down to optimum activity temps in the low 70's it should go to the next level next couple weeks.both weeds ( which now are at peak growth and topping and some weed beds are the best i've seen them in a couple yrs and rocks. blades ( speed is key big time)of all sizes, dawgs, triple d's,gramas over the thr rocks, blades, topwater especally zig zag baits and pacemakers,10" suicks and spinnerbaits in the heavier weed beds have all been producing.
all things considerd, the moon coming up,water temps cooling down a bit, mayfly hatch done and over, weed growth optimum, depths fish are relating to,etc.etc.,i would have to says the upcoming week(s) look very promising for you coming up to eagle lake or this part of the country.
lots are making last minute plans and aug is now full (but if an aug trip is in your plans give us a call as sometimes a cancellation or opening might be available)but there are some slots still avialble in sept and early oct for some excellent trophy musky, walleye pike, lake trout and the last 1/2 of sept/early oct and overlooked big smallie action as well.give us a call anytime 888 727 5865 to check on options, availablity, and talk fishing!!
