The cooler weather we've been getting lately has dropped the water temps down to an average of 68 degrees but has heated up the walleye action. The past three days has seen some very good action in depths from 7 to 13 feet, and mostly around wood structure, mid lake humps, and the deep edges of bogs. Don't seem to be a preference to the walleye as to what is attached to the jig as they are taking both crawlers and minnows. Some days it's a slow retrieve that works best while other times just drifting while vertical jigging is the ticket for positive results, yesterday for example, my client and I were anchored just off a wind blown bog and I was casting and slow retrieving my jig and minnow and my client was vertical jigging with jig and 1/2 crawler and both methods work equally as we not only caught our walleye, but jumbo perch, smallies and a bonus 26 inch pike from this one spot.
