The 14th annual Wheat's Walleye Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 17th. Due to the 23 inch slot limit on Bay de Noc, there are two categories to fish - two fish over 23 inches, or five fish under 23 inches. $500 first place in each category, as well as for the biggest walleye. In the event of a tie, the team signed up first will win, so sign up early, (entry forms are available at Bay View Bait and Tackle and the North Town Crown.) Entry fee is $70 per team. Entries received after 10pm August 15th will incur a $20 late fee.
This is a catch and kill tournament. Fish entered will be used for the fish fry to follow the weigh-in. The weigh-in, fish fry, and awards ceremony will take place at Chenier's Reef, (formally Wheat's Place.)
This is easily the areas most popular walleye tournament. If you don't end up in the money with your catch, you'll probably get your entry fee back in door prizes. Come join the fun!
