Made a short trip last night - didn't get on the water until after 6pm. Wind has been back out of the south and east the last few days, so headed back to Saunder's Point and found decent numbers of fish in 26 to 29 FOW. Basic perch rigs and small minnows did the job. I ended up landing 23, keeping 13 that were 8 inches and up, (best was 12 inches.) Been averaging one keeper in four, lately, so the "about" one in two average was pretty good last night.

Got Brian Whitens of "Discovering" out for some perch at the end of August. That show will air tonight. The bite was tough with the post frontal conditions we fished in, but still managed to get enough for a meal.

Turned out better than I thought it would. I guess if you condense 4 or 5 hours of "so so" fishing into 9 minutes, it looks like "pretty good" fishing.
We started on the north side of Saunder's Point due to the north wind, hoping to get a little wave action to help "jig" the perch rigs. There were some fish there, but they didn't want to cooperate. Sometimes it pays to "fish where the wind, was," so we went back to the south side of the point where the wind had been blowing for the last several days, prior. Marked many more fish, but they were much more spread out. Towards sunset they started biting a little better, plus we started getting some bigger fish. No jumbos this trip, just good eaters in the 7 to 9 inch range.
Brian is a very easy guy to get along with. If you have something interesting to do in the outdoors, give him a call. You just have to get used to seeing this whenever you talk to him...
